Heroes & Families -
Our Stories & Favorite Recipes

When you think of your happiest family memories, odds are most of them revolve around
the kitchen. The smell of Grandma’s biscuits, the pot roast no one makes quite like Mom.
We all have these memories and they stick with us for a lifetime.

Several volunteers here at Family Of a Vet have decided to compile a Cookbook full of
these special memories. We are looking for those favorite recipes that always seem to
bring the family a little closer together. Ask Mom, ask Grandma! This Cookbook is sure to
be a treasured family favorite and all proceeds will go to and its mission
to support heroes and families who are struggling with PTSD, TBI, and life after combat.

We are asking for submissions of not only recipes but also stories. Share with us those
funny and “aww” moments your family has shared with the amazing Veteran in your life and
feel free to share your pictures as well.

We currently have a few tentative headers but don’t feel limited by them:

  • Snacks/Appetizers
  • Sides
  • Main Dishes
  • Drinks (non-alcoholic)
  • Soups and Stews
  • Fun with the Kids
  • Dinner in 30 Minutes or Less
  • Desserts

If you are interested in submitting your stories and/or recipes, please e-mail them to I do request though that you send the recipes and the stories
in a separate e-mail. Also please include the way you would prefer to have your name
presented with your recipes and stories. (I.e. Jane Doe, wife to a hero. Jane D, spouse of
a Vet). It’s your signature so have fun with it!

Thank you,
(FOV Cookbook Project Coordinator)
